or standard cartridge, but any Turk will give you fits. If your Turk does not have KKALE on the ring, look real close under the crest and see if you can see traces of waffenfabrik mauser oberndorf under it, probably 1938 or 9 date. That would give you a good strong action, correct length magazine, and slightly more clearance in the mag. One of the distributers in Shotgun news has some Brazilian FN.made 1950 mausers, that were designed for 30-06. There are no aftermarket barrels for the large ring small shank receiver, except 30-06 and. 338/06 you would likely have to put in the 3.4" magazine for larger bullets, and you will also have to relieve the cartridge guide lips to let the larger bullet reach the breech. By cutting back the receiver, they took almost 1/8" of thread space from the ring. The receiver and rear sight have coinciding serial numbers. The rifling on the inside of the barrel is in good condition. This rifle is in good condition with no pitting inside or out. This Mauser was made in 1938 prior to World War II. I haven't seen one, but I'll bet they did the same to the 98/22's so they could reuse the 1903 stock and bayonet sets. Description: This is a Turkish Model 98 Mauser chambered for 8mm. I got a couple that were GEW 98 rebuilds, but they machined back the receiver face to accomodate the upper hand guard recess. The 98 receivers on 38 Turks, marked kkale, have large ring, small shank receivers.
